Fighting Leukemia

On January 17, 2007 Doctors told us something a parent never wants to hear: "your daughter has Leukemia. "

I had the pleasure of meeting Julie Snyder and her daughter Jenna last week and she shared with me her story of Jenna's battle with Leukemia. It is truly an inspirational story. These days, as Jenna is looking toward the completion of her treatment, her mom has become a member of the
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training and is planning on running in the Chicago Marathon on October 11th of this year to raise money for research and patient services.

Children and adolescents with Down's syndrome have a 10 to 30-fold increased incidence of leukemia Every 150th such child will eventually develop leukemia and the increased risk extends into adulthood. These facts are heartbreaking and difficult which is why it is so important that causes like Julie's are supported.

Please visit Julie's webpage and read her awesome story!

Julie, we're all looking forward to cheering you on this fall. ♥
